Mission News comes with a widget called "Recent Posts Extended" for showcasing recent posts on your site. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to display posts from any category and/or tag and customize the appearance of the widget.
Choose the posts to display
The first step is to choose which posts you want to display in the widget.
To display posts from a category, leave the Category box checked and use the dropdown to select a post category.
To display posts from a tag, uncheck the Category box, check the Tag box, and then use the tag dropdown to select a post tag.
To display posts in a category that also share the same tag, check both the Category and Tag boxes and select the desired category and tag.
To display posts that are either in the selected category or tag, switch the Relationship setting to "OR".
Choose the content to display
Now that you have the posts selected, you can decide on the content to display. The widget has 5 settings to control what content is shown, and a setting to control the number of posts to display.
If you choose to display the excerpts, these will be the same excerpts displayed in the regular post feed.
Choose the style
The Recent Posts Extended widget has 2 different styles. In the Mission News demo, you can see both styles showcased in the sidebars.
